Canal boating: DSs, 8 & 10, lifejackets- where to get the nice flat ones...

...And not pay 45 quid a piece?? I see they're 35 quid on eBay + 7 postage, and obviously we'd pay that if we have to for their safety, but, a year out (!) I'm seeing what's out there. We figure they'll be wearing them 16 hours a day for 7 days so sticking them in those Michelin Man ones wouldn't be fair. The ones I mean are the flat horseshoe shaped ones that self inflate. I'd think SURELY there must be a market in them as used for the single family boating holiday? Anyone any ideas?

Who are you hiring the boat from? Can't they supply them?
We took the boys on my parent's boat and just borrowed a couple from the local hire place. They were a bit michelin man though .

Yes, I think they're obliged to supply them but whilst not pandering to fussy tastes, for the 1500 odd quid the holiday is costing (I'M not paying, I should add!) I don't want the daily battle of PUT YOUR LIFE JACKET ON! Esp, if by some miracle, next June is hot, hot, hot- if all they have are the Michelin ones; highly likely seeing as you have to 'recharge' the slimline ones if they 'go off'.
