Weather in Greece in early May and what’s open in Crete or Santorini

Could anyone share their experience of weather in Greece in early May? Thinking of Crete or Santorini.

Also if the weather is mediocre - can anyone share what else there is to do? I’m aware it’s not in the full season so I’m worried about mediocre weather and not a lot open!

Crete, everything will be open but the weather may be hit and miss, Dsis lives there, ive been in May, wore a jacket most of the time.
People go in May because it's not boiling hot and there's a chance of rain

May is a lovely time to go.

Crete flowers everywhere and snow on the mountain.

Santorini, places are open and everyone painting their shutters etc.

Enjoy!

The weather is usually ok in early May but the swimming pools will likely still be cold until the end of May. The sea is generally warmer.

Crete and Santorini both have plenty of other things to do though!

We went in early May and had a couple of rainy days but there was enough to do there that we didn’t mind.

We were due to go to Crete when Covid hit, so didn't go. We understood that temperatures were generally around 16-18c in the day. We had a near miss as it turned out being 7-8c in the day and 1c at night, was meant to be breezy at the time. At home we had lovely spring sunshine temperatures.

Hopefully it'd be much better for you, but obviously hoes to show warmer weather than the UK isn't guaranteed.
