Rain forecast in Greece

We are off to Greece on Tuesday; staying in Napflio for a week, then a few days in Athens.

My problem is that the forecast from Wednesday to Sunday looks pretty appalling. Rain every day. 😬

We really want to visit some of the ancient Greek sites, Mycenae, etc, but I'm guessing it'll be wet and miserable. Any ideas for how we can keep ourselves amused in the area? We are a family with 2 boys aged 13 and 8.

We'll be fine once we get to Athens, so much to do there, and the weather looks to be perking up by then, but it's our time in Napflio that's worrying me.

It's not forecast continuous rain for that entire period and lots of the rain in the forecast is just scattered showers. As long as you're dressed appropriately there's no reason you can't still visit the archaeological sites and have a nice time. Rain is only miserable if you're not dressed for it.

I'd just pack cagoules and carry on anyway. There's only one day that might have heavier rain so just make that your museums and cafes day?

The forecast will probably change again by the time you get there.

Thank you, that's a very sensible answer! I think I'm just getting stressed because it's not fitting my mental plan of shorts/sandals/t-shirts/blue skies! But even if we're stuck in the apartment for a day, or parts of days, we're bringing plenty of books, we have a VPN and the fire stick so can watch UK TV, and the boys have Nintendo switches if needed... It'll be ok I'm sure.

No advice but solidarity as facing exactly the same in Sicily and also wondering what on earth what we're going to do when we get there with a 5yo! 😂

It's such a shame, isn't it? But totally out of our control. I'm busy throwing warmer clothes into suitcases...

Do you have enough baggage allowance to pack some more toys? My two loved (actually still do love) Hot wheels cars, and would also play for ages with a small bag of Lego... Good luck!

We’re in the same boat 🤣 packing for some showery weather but it’s starting to look like some good days too.
