Montenegro recommendations

Looking at booking a week in late August somewhere in Europe. We loved Croatia and am looking at Montenegro. Anyone been with teens? Any recommendations? We don’t need loads - pool and ideally water sports near the beach. Happy to eat out. Thanks!

We went last year with DSs who are 16 and 18. We got an apartment with shared pool and walking distance to beach just outside Herceg Novi. It was lovely, although we didn't do any water sports. Had planned kayaking but on the day it was really windy (the apartment owner said this was unusual for summer) so we just went on a regular boat trip instead to blue cave. The swimming was great though.
We were only there 5 days but I had going to Budva and up on the cable car/luge outside of Kotor on my potential activities list. We had no car though so it was difficult to fit much in just by using local buses. We then went up to the mountains and on to Bosnia after the coast both of which I loved.
One thing I would say is it was extremely hot, we were there early July and even for locals it was a bit of heatwave. The traffic was the other thing, the coast road from the border to Kotor gets incredibly busy and when we were there they are just building more and more holiday apartments.
Anyway it was beautiful, food was great (and good value compared to Croatia) we had an amazing birthday celebration meal by the harbour in Portonovi which would have been a £££ meal anywhere else, the locals were friendly, it felt safe so happy for teens to do their own thing.
