Florence itinerary - what sights would you cluster together?

We are heading to Tuscany this summer. We have 3 nights there, 2 full days.

What main attractions and sights would you put together during each day?

Any tips or off the main tourist track that you really loved in Florence? Just the city, as we are staying in Tuscany and discovering the other parts for the rest of the holiday.

Check out whether the Palazzo Vecchio is opening its ramparts and towers for nightime visiting.

We did this and it was spectacular - even my teenage daughter got excited at the views over the city.

If you want a cheap place to eat the Saporni and Dintorni supermarket at the station sells portions of hot food which you can either take away or heat up at the little cafe they have there. The food was just as good as your average restaurant and loads cheaper.
