Trip to Antalya in April?

How is a trip to Antalya (Turkey) in early April? Thinking of going in school holidays as prices are much cheaper but not sure if would be rainy or cold. Have 2 school age kids. If worth it, any particular resorts that are recommended?

We went at Easter last year- it was very much the start of the season although everything was open on our resort.

The staff were all huddled in fleeces at about 17- 20 degrees, but was warm and pleasant enough most of the time to us. Outdoor pools were still chilly though.

we returned in July and it was 49 degrees so that was a shock to the system!

I've only been to Istanbul at that time of year and it was colder than I was prepared for. I know someone else who had the same experience. Antalya is obviously further south but looking it up seems comparable.

I would suggest layers and light rain jacket, so you don't end up uncomfortable and miserable if it's chilly or rains a bit.

We went in April a few years ago and it was cold! It was grey and it was windy and it chucked it down every night! Out door pool was freeeezing. No one sitting outside.

DH booked it. We had recently been to Egypt and i stupidly just thought it would be another warm holiday. Chucked all the tiny clothes back in the suitcase ... and one fleece and one pair of leggings - just in case - and off we went.

Well, i wore that bloody fleece and pair of leggings every day! 😳🫣

Rinsing out the leggings in the bathroom. 🙄 Big hotel, but still embarrassing coming down to breakfast in the same clothes every day.

We went to Turkey in may and wasn’t hot enough for me. Needed an extra 5 degrees at least 😂

We did Antalya in the Easter holidays a few years ago and it was great. Early April too - flew out on 3rd April.

The evenings were cooler, but just a cardigan needed. The poolside was a bit weird - lots in bikinis and lots in jumpers! The hotel we went to heated the main family pool and the other pools were very cold.

I’d chance it again because of the price difference compared to summer. There was plenty to do and see via local busses if it’s not pool/beach weather, and actually we can do the beach in cool weather if we focus on mega sandcastles rather than sunbathing, and we can do the poolside with playing cards etc.

We did Antalya mid April last year. It was lovely - low to mid 20s and we swam in the sea and the unheated outdoor pools.

Being honest I don’t like going to places that are very much geared up for pool beach type weather unless it’s late May to late September because there is usually not much to do if the weather is not great . I would rather go somewhere like Valleta in Malta or Malaga or Seville or Palma or Florence or Rome where it ‘might’ be great weather but if it isn’t you’ve still got all the usual ‘nicer’ city stuff . Benalmedena is quite good for that too - handy into Malaga if the weather is a bit rubbish

We had booked Antalya (Side) for April but had to cancel. Too hot for us in August!

I’m off on Sunday. Packing a mix of clothes. Dresses, chub rubs, tight, cardi and fleece plus some long sleeve tops and flared leggings. I went to Belek in Feb last year and it was ok.

Appreciate all the advice. We decided against it in the end for April and will wait until proper Summer holidays
