Am off to Lille next weekend - a surprise birthday treat - so although I know I’m going there, I don’t know what’s been planned, where I’m staying or anything else! I was just wondering if there are any top recommendations of things not to miss whilst I’m there.

The Old Town has some really lovely independent shops/galleries. The architecture is lovely and there are plenty of bars/cafes to have a coffee and watch the world go by.

A walk around the citadel gardens/park can be very pleasant and is easily reachable on foot from the city centre.

I went there for my birthday in January and loved it - despite the snow! 🤣. The Palais des Beaux Arts is definitely worth a visit.

Couvent des Minimes hotel has amazing atrium, maybe stop by for a drink.
Also cute creperies like Beaurepaire, the one I went to served local cider in shallow bowls!

We stayed at the Couvent des Minimes. It's lovely there and a five minute walk to the Old Town.

We took my Mum and Aunty this time time last year. They loved this car tour, it was actually very informative too: https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/AttractionProductReview-g187178-d23250953-Private_Lille_Tour_by_Classic_Convertible_2CV_with_Champagne-Lille_Nord_Hauts_de_F.html

La Piscine museum just a short tram ride away from the centre is well worth a trip.

Lille is lovely, we had a great time there for a few days last summer.
