Would you fly to Turkey?

My ex husband is due to fly to Turkey at the end of the month and we are both worried! It’s cost a lot and he won’t get anything back from the travel agent if he cancels rather than it being decided that it’s not safe to travel to. It’s around Antalya.

Yes. Unless the FCDO advises otherwise

SendTheNextOneIn · 12/03/2026 08:33

The FCDO is currently advising against travel to all parts of Turkey, especially within 10km of the border with Syria, so no I wouldn’t.

Sorry just edited as I got Antalya confused with Antakya, but I still would not be travelling anywhere towards a war zone.

No it isn’t. Antalya is at the other end of the country. No where near the Syrian border.

Where does the FCDO advise against all travel to Turkey?? It's advising against all travel to those parts of Turkey within 10km of the Syrian border as far as I can see.

TikTokker · 12/03/2026 08:36

Yes no problem at all

It doesn’t. The travel advice for Turkey hasn’t changed in years.

Errr...as I read it the FCO is advising against all travel to parts of Turkey..anyhow the official version is here:

https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/turkey

There's a lot of wrongly/oddly paraphrased FCO advice popping up whenever travel to X, Y or Z is mentioned..

I'm not convinced all of it is accidental.

I am currently eyeing up a holiday to Turkey for July, I am hoping it will drop in price
Ironically I was due to go to Turkey with a group of friends post A Level but the first Gulf War broke out and The Travel Agent swapped it to Greece

Erin1975 · 12/03/2026 09:51

I wouldn't be the slghtest bit worried about travelling to Turkey. It is advised to stay away from the Syrian border but that has been the advice for several years and nothing to do with the current war in Iran.

The Syrian border is on the east side of the country. Antalya is on the west.

I was planning to book for this summer and I've been dithering and now dithering some more but also hoping this will make the prices drop 😬😅

AlPaccacino · 15/03/2026 19:59

Well I’m flying to Antalya next Sunday. Just check the FCDA daily.

LadyLolaRuben · 15/03/2026 20:03

With my track record of the Tunisia massacre, bombing of German xmas market and Thomas Cook going bust NO!

travellover111 · 16/04/2026 18:37

it is safe to travel to turkey for now, however one must be cautious.
