What is the cheapest way to book a car abroad?

We're going camping in Spain and need to hire a car for about 13 days. i've been quoted anything between £400-£600 for a mid car. This just seems to be so expensive to me.I wondered whether anyone had any tips or suggestions to make it cheaper or get a discount?

Where are you hiring from? If it's malaga, check out malagacar.com - we used them last time we went, excellent service and v good prices too.

Renault Kangoo type £240 for 2 weeks

i worked at holiday autos many moons ago and they had a price promise, as did hertz. at the time you could play one off against the other... worth a look to see if something like that still possible.
am wracking brain to think of carhire firm i used from gerona recently...

The other common one in Spain is carjet - they are pretty competitive too (haven't used them though and I think they're brokers rather than direct)

We rented a Berlingo earlier this year - I couldn't drive it because I forgot my licence but it was great; loads of room inside, sliding doors, huge boot and all that headroom. Also it was a diesel and used a minute amount of fuel, and it was cute!
