All-inclusive in the Canary Islands

I’m looking for recommendations for a good all-inclusive hotel in the Canary Islands. We’ll be travelling with 2DC (ages 2 and 4) as well as all the grandparents sometime late April/early May.

Our main preference is a family room with two separate bedrooms, so the children aren’t sleeping in the same room as us.

Things we’re looking for:
• Family room with separate bedrooms
• Good food
• Kids’ club (e.g. mini disco)
• Close to a nice beach
• Badminton or Tennis courts?

We went to the Sandos Tenerife a few years ago, which would fit your bill. Now run by Barcelo. Huge interconnecting rooms, great food, next to small nature reserve, very quiet, nice pools.

The BBC filmed a drama called Crossfire there a couple of years ago about a terrorist takeover of a hotel!

We have been to a number of the Barcelo resorts and generally rate them - they’re consistently
clean, food is good and of a decent standard, plenty of staff at bars, entertainment isn’t bad, and they have interconnecting rooms for larger families.

We’ve also been to the Elba and were not impressed, especially by comparison to the Barcelo around the corner which we’ve also stayed at! The room we had was quite tired, there was no air conditioning, lots of activities were advertised but didn’t take place, and we saw quite a lot of cockroaches. The main pool also gets heaving and doesn’t have enough sun loungers; the space around it is quite limited.

Look at the Aequoro suites in Lanzarote.

I've just got back from Barcelo on Fuerteventura which was decent and right on the beach front. Im not sure about the family rooms though.

We stayed at the Hovima suites Costa adeje but it was the Labranda at the time.

It has everything on your list, great kids club too! The only thing I’m unsure about is the rooms. When we stayed we had a living room / bedroom but I imagine they do have bigger rooms.

Really good location too!

We stayed a few years ago and the food was v good. We called in to look round to see if it would suit us going with grandchildren. The splash pool and the kids club looked good.
