Hello! We are in visiting my brother in July/August - everything is sorted but I’m down to the last few days we are having (without him!!) in Cairns area before we leave to fly home via Singapore. I’ve booked an apartment in Palm Cove and we will have a hire car. Outdoorsy, active types with a 12 year old. Where is best for a snorkelling trip? I get very sea sick but have very strong prescription meds. ReefRider to Low Isles? Or Wavelength to Outer Reef? Also definitely going floating down Mossman Gorge? What else am I going to want to do? Thanks in advance!!

You can def do a day trip to Cape Trib - its a long day, but you go in sort of 4wd mini buses, stop at Cape Trib beach, a swimming hole, cross the Daintree River etc. I seem to remember a BBQ lunch was included too.

I’ve been to Cairns 5 or 6 times over the years. The time of year you’re going is a good one as it’s during the dry season. Around 30° but not as humid. All the suggestions so far are great. Mosman Gorge is a good one. If you get the right trip you can also do a river cruise to try and spot crocodiles. Kuranda with the sky rail and train. There’s also a few activities to do once there. You can check out available trips via the Cairns tourist information website.
Great Barrier Reef is amazing. Some of the bigger companies offer glass bottom boats, snorkelling kit included and other things. Some of the companies have marine biologists on board and offer tours on the reef in small groups with your snorkels. This is a extra cost but well worth it

Yes this sounds like what we did. It was a great day.
