French bank holidays- May/ DLP

We are looking to go to DLP in May but I noticed there’s a bank holiday literally every weekend in France during May! Does anyone know how busy these get? Are they all strictly observed or would there be one that’s definitely best to avoid over the others? Has anyone been during this time of year? Thanks so much in advance

I would expect them all to be very busy, especially with the new area at DLP open. Ascension Day may be better as it's on a Thursday not a Friday this year.

The upside is that there are no French school holidays during this period so apart from weekends and public holidays it should be a bit quieter.

We were there in Feb during English half term which coincided with Zone A holidays in France so it was very busy with long queues, but not unmanageable with patience and planning.

Actually no ignore me! Ascension Day will prob be the worst as schools get the Friday off as well.

Can you go in June instead?

We can’t really take the kids out of school. We would book the fast track passes but I thought there might be some weekends that are an absolute no no (like Easter for example). Saying that, we went for Halloween and it was manageable

We've been to beach places in France over the Whitsun bank holiday twice. It was busy but not bonkers.

I would ask this on the Tripadvisor forum. Posters there are from all over Europe, so will have a much better idea of how busy the bank holidays get.

We got back this morning after a 3night stay on site. It was zone C spring break and was really busy with school groups and loads of americans and japanse that hadnt done their research and didnt Frozen wasnt open!

I think from the opening date of Frozen every weekend at a minimum is going to be rammed.

Are you staying on site and can take advantage of MM? Most of my money went on fast passes as we wont queue for longer than 20mins!

How are your kids? Prams were a nightmare and we saw lots of kids having little meltdowns.

We love DP and go all the time.

Thanks for the replies. The hotel we want is on request so will wait to see if we can get a booking. We will do fast passes so hopefully shouldn’t be too bad!? Kids are 6 and 7 so won’t need prams etc. I think we’ll do 3 nights so that we can factor in some chill time and maybe go into the parks a bit later in the evenings/ go back to hotel swim in the afternoon. My understanding is that it’s always pretty busy so we’d only go and do fast track. Probably last time we’ll go to Paris and we’d look to go to Florida next year

Yeah, I clocked that too, so let's just put me in the Terminally Thick basket.

Got confused as friends' kids were off on the Friday for AD previously. Now I am thoroughly educated.

Ascension day the schools tend to “faire du pont” as their isn’t a May half term in France so that may actually be busiest as most people will take the Friday too as schools will be closed. The worker day bank holiday isn’t observed by everyone.

Ascension day can be extremely busy. We went sun to wednesday to avoid it and saw pictures and looked crazy. To be honest though it's going to be extremely busy at all times anyway with the new area and they have a max capacity.

We ended up at a safari park one year on Ascension day, it was hell on earth. We also left a quiet campsite that morning and returned to it completely rammed. It emptied out again on the Sunday. Avoid that Thursday to Sunday if you can.
