Mexico

Dd planned to go visit a friend who lives there and travel around for about 6 weeks, booked pre the cartel leader’s death and ensuing violence. Guadalajara region.

Was already not keen on Mexico for a young female solo but moreso now even though FCDO advisory is more relaxed.

She is keen to press ahead and I’m not sure I can do anything about it.

Is this a bit crazy for her to go?

Definitely crazy to go. But you are only young once.

Well here we are, almost time for her to go and I’m still quite concerned.

Where in Mexico is she going? There are places to avoid and others are fine.

Mexico City, Oaxaca, Guadalajara.

How are they travelling? I have travelled (by motorcycle) all over Mexico and there are certain roads and areas to avoid. What has been on the news recently hasn't really changed this. All over Mexico you need to be sensible and think about what you are doing. I never went out at night except for in the main squares (very family orientated) of the immediate area to where I was staying. A young female will have to be vigilant and sensible! The good thing is though, is that she is going to visit someone who lives there - which is the best place to get info from. I presume you have seen the map on the Foreign Office Advice website?

She’s only with the friend for 2 of the 8 weeks, solo rest of the time.

She’s seen the FCDO map although it’s hard to
tell if some of the places are borderline orange 😬
