if i go and stay with my sister (who is in limehouse) i will have to go by train and don't think i could lug our huge travel cot with me + pushchair etc..
so just wondering if anyone lives in the vicinity that i could borrow one from, maybe in about a months time? cheers!

I'm near Island Gardens DLR station and you would be welcome to borrow mine if you can't get a closer offer. You will need to put down an extra blanket or something as the mattress is quite hard.

wow thanks for getting back to me so quickly bran! will just find out how far that is from my sister and whether she could pick it up or not..
so kind of you though and will get back to you!

No problem, let me know this week whether you need it if you can as I am going to put it in storage (ds has outgrown it and we're not sure if we'll be having another). Even if it does get put it storage it's not a big deal to get it back, but if I'm definitely going to be lending it then I might as well save myself a bit of lifting and carrying.

I'd say I'm about 10 mins by car from Limehouse or probably 25 mins door to door by DLR.

hi again bran - yes my sister says she is happy to come and get it from you when we are coming to stay. It will be the weekend of 12/13 July if thats ok - she will probably come and get it on the friday evening if that is possible?
Thanks so much for the offer!!

Hi FL, sorry I didn't see your message as it had slipped off my active conversations list.

That would be fine. Would your sister be ok to keep the cot for a week or so as we are leaving that weekend for a week's holiday and won't be back until 22nd July.

Are you registered to CAT, if so CAT me and I'll give you all my details, otherwise I'll CAT you.

hi bran - it has turned out (since yesterday!) that the family event that was our reason for coming to london that weekend has been postponed, BUT i would really like to go and see my sister in london later in the summer so if you aren't using it and its taking up space in your place shall i get her to come and get it anyway and she can store it til we could use it? But if you need it/would rather keep hold of it than give it to a random stranger for an unspecified length of time then of course that is fine!!! I am sure you could sell it for at least a little bit of money here on MN..
let me know what suits you anyway. I am not set up for CAT yet but can do, just let me know. Thanks again and sorry to be a bit confusing

That's no problem. I don't mind whether your sister fetches it soon or I put it in storage and she picks it up closer to the time. I won't need it for a while anyway, we are storing all of the baby stuff while we wait to see whether our application to adopt again works out or not. It probably costs almost the same to store it all as to buy it again, but it's a lot less effort. Especially as it all happens quite fast sometimes, with ds it was a bit of a panic to get the nursery set up and all the equipment bought.

I'll CAT you with my contact details as I'm registered for CAT anyway and you can email me and let me know whether you would prefer it early or late. I'm not at all worried about lending it to a random stranger, I would simply stalk you around MN if you absconded with it.

Hi Fairylights, your settings don't allow me to CAT you. Can you let me know when you've changed so that you can receive a CAT. I can't put my email address on here unfortunately as it has my real name in it.

fairylights · 01/07/2008 20:16

hi again bran and thanks, you are so lovely!
Umm i don't understand the CAT thing but i am not set up for it, so i guess it would help if i was! I used to be cheritongirl and changed to fairylights in about November time??
Does that help?? Or do i have to be fully CAT-ed too?
but maybe it would be better for you to put the cot in storage anyway - my sister has a v busy job and active social life (not having kids!) so it might be quite a while til i can pin her down to a time we can visit.
I hope we haven't inconvenienced you at all?? And i hope all goes well if you do decide to adopt another
If i need the cot i will post again and hope you see it. Thanks very much again

sorry bran, have just looked at the CAT thing and realized that i have to say i will allow myself to be CATed - i know its prob irrelevant now but you can CAT me anytime from now!

I have CATed you now. I'll go ahead and stick it in storage then, the storage place is only about 500m away from home so it's easy to get it back again. Just give me as much warning as you can once you've decided on a date as I will be away for part of the summer (probably only for a week at a time).

I hope you manage to get to London. There is a fab restaurant in Limehouse called La Figa, I'm sure your sister knows it already. All the waiters are Italian and dote on kids and the food is amazing. [salivating emoticon]

fairylights · 02/07/2008 12:35

thanks bran, i got your CAT and will email you my details. Will definitely be heading for that restaurant when we make it to limehouse!! enjoy your holidays
