Essaouira, Morocco in April

Hi everyone,

I've just booked a break in Essaouira, Morocco this April for my family of 4 (two kids - DD 12 and DS 8).

Does anyone have any experience of the area and tips to share? I'm especially interested in how warm/cool it is so I can work out what to take (the packing anxiety has already started 😂).

We'll be staying in a villa about 20 minutes away from the city.

Thank you!

Was there about 10 thousand years ago. Lovely place.

Beach is beautiful but you will be sandblasted so no good for sunbathing.

My friend went a couple of years ago in April. V v windy and weather unpredictable. She took herself off to a Riad for a few days as the air bnb she was in was not comfortable in the cold/rainy weather. She loved the place/people though.

The weather in coastal Morocco is very unpredictable, is often misty and windy

Check out this website, form the same family from travelynnfamily. They have been several times and have also stayed for extended periods there

It's a beautiful city and the coast is lovely but it can be windy. It should be sunny and bright and probably warm despite the wind!

Sober23 · 01/03/2026 20:15

The wind makes it a great spot to try surfing!!!

Big windsurfing area so often windy. It's lovely and relaxed there and weather should be warm but air temp always depends on the wind so take some light windproof clothing

Great, thank you.
I've been to Fuerteventura twice before and was warned about the wind there but I didn't mind it as much as I thought I would. I would be disappointed if it wasn't sunny though!

Our house is inland a bit so I'm hoping the wind/sand blasting problem don't be too bad there...
