Mauritius in the Easter holidays?

Is Easter a good time to go to Mauritius? Various friends say the October half term is better, but we usually go away with family in August so keen to spread out our holidays a bit more. Or should I be looking somewhere else at this time of year?

Ideally I want something for active primary children (snorkelling / boat trips/ animal spotting etc), kids club for preschooler, inter connecting rooms and good non repetitive all inclusive catering (love fish and seafood). Also nice sea/beach for swimming and snorkelling from the hotel, ideally not too rough for smallest family members. We tried Thailand a few years ago and there were these tiny stinging creatures in the water near the hotel so everyone used the pools and just swam in the sea on boat trips which was such a shame.

Sugar Beach looks promising but any other contenders you would recommend?

Can be quite changeable at Easter. We have had some brilliant trips, and other times some downpours.
October is better generally. North Island generally better and hotels generally very good, so just do your homework on reviews. They pride themselves on hospitality.

@Thingamebobwotsit is it a case of rains for an hour or more of an all day rain thing? Agree October would probably be best but the grandparent/ cousin holiday is pretty immovable with everyone’s work commitments.

Trying to work out if Mauritius is still a good option for Easter or if I need to think of a completely different location.

I went at the end of March last year and the Weather was gorgeous, hot with a light breeze except on the last day when it rained all day.

I would say it is variable. Usually short sharp downpours, worse in South part of Island than the North. Temperatures are still pretty comfortable though. If you are happy to have some rain on holiday then Easter is a good time, (cyclone season usually through to the end of March though), if you want consistent sun then go October time.
