Is Benidorm a bad idea?

I’ve been to Benidorm quite a few times over the years and really enjoyed it. I found the beach beautiful and clean and the old town really lovely.
I liked that there was lots of entertainment on the nights.
im 38 this July and want to go to Spain. Benidorm is tried and tested but I’ve not been in 10 years.
is it still ok for nice restaurants, nightlife (I don’t mean clubbing but nice cocktails and people watching). I’ll be with my partner.
or any other recommendations for nice parts of Spain? I’ve been to certain parts before and there was nothing going on in the evening.

You might like St Julian’s in Malta. It’s beach with nightlife (in Paceville area) but a bit more upmarket and mature than Benidorm. Not Spain of course but similar vibes.

Has Benidorm changed a lot in 10 years?

Or am I only seeing the bad areas?

We need somewhere to go, but I was under the impression it was just packed with noisy bars. Didn't think it was a good place for just two of us.

That’s down the ‘British end’ where there’s an area full of tacky loud bars. The old town end is full of Spanish families and nice shops

Watching this with interest. Am going to Benidorm for a short break, 5 nights in the spring. Haven't visited since 1983!!!!
Am staying in the old town, previous visits were to the Rincon de Loix area. Was a small child then and loved it. Really looking forward to it. I remember it being very lively so thought old town would suit me better now. Have excellent earplugs so can sleep ok.
