Any recommendations for Zakopane, Poland? Please and thank you.

Going in mid-March for three nights after a three night stay in Krakow.

We don’t ski but like a mix of cafes, walks, and just general mooching.

Reading some very mixed views of Zakopane online.

We went to Poland last summer, including staying in Zakopane. Obviously being the summer there was no snow - will there be snow when you are there?

The best thing we did was go on the Kasprowy Wierch cable car - you get really high up and the views are incredible. We walked along the ridge on the border with Slovakia for about an hour or so. Book tickets in advance. Also I read online about people getting fined if they drove up a road which is apparently private, so we caught an Uber there and took the bus back into Zakopane town centre.

The main street in Zakopane was very touristy and not particularly interesting. Lots of cafes but the well reviewed ones we tried to go to were full or had long queues, so we went slightly out of the centre (5 mins!) and found a nice restaurant in a hotel.

There were quite a few traditional wooden buildings, some are museums, we just did a bit of a self guided tour to see some of those, which was interesting. You can Google where they all are.

There was also a little festival in a park of the equivalent of the Women's Institute, where branches from the villages of the region seemed to have come with their best home made food and drink as part of a competition, with everyone in each WI in traditional dress, so that was interesting, although obviously quite specific to when we went!

It was really clean and modern and good fun for an afternoon.

Hoping there’ll still be some snow in Zakopane, but may be the late stage slush type! Thanks for mentioning the Kasprowy Wierch cable car, I have it on the list.
