I'm so overwhelmed by choice! Family holiday

I would like to book a holiday for my family (me, DH, ds6 and DS4.5)
I have been looking at just some all inclusive stuff or half board hols on the Algarve or Mallorca but only because it's kind of "the done thing"
We did Mallorca 2 yes ago and it was a bit of a nightmare as both me and DH were ill, ds was 3 and it was just basically hell In another country.

What I've started seeing on my FB reels are amazing hotels on Austria which are kitted out for kids - great pools, activities, but also really nice looking gourmet food and surroundings near the mountains.

The only thing with these are they are much more expensive and also a faff to get to!

I'm all over the place searching. Even Orlando for Disney or Denmark for Legoland.

I just don't know what I want!! Hellllppppp

They're more expensive for a reason - they're better !
How difficult are they to get to ? Do you need to arrange your own flights, hire a car, etc ?

Yes I know haha and I would do it but my husband isn't even keen to go abroad since the last holiday was not great! He would be happy with center parcs again.

Yes I'd need to add on my flights and then hire a car or pay a hefty transfer fee!

Austrian holidays are also more expensive because the cost of living is higher than Spain and Portugal and there's also less competition and economies of scale. Not necessarily 'better' by any objective measure.

Perhaps Center Parcs would be a good choice? Although your DC would probably love Billund and no need to worry about long transfers. It's a short taxi ride or bus from the airport. There's also a lego play area at Billund Airport so they'll be able to play while waiting on the way back.

I'd book Billund, such an easy holiday with young children, we have fond memories of the place.

If you're not too bothered about hot weather but want plenty for kids to do, then maybe Eurocamp or Center Parcs in Europe? We went to the Netherlands and there was loads of fun stuff for young kids.

I find this website and their Instagram really good when looking for family hotels https://tinytravelship.com

DD has booked Magic Pirates Island resort near Alicante, it looks amazing with a zoo and waterpark onsite, swim up rooms etc. Ultra all inclusive. Nice quick flight and half an hour transfer.
It’s not cheap - £7k for a week in August for 2 adults and 3 kids but it’s cheaper than Florida and the weather won’t include daily rainstorms or hurricane risk.
