Where to go last minute Feb half term?

lulabelleread · 03/02/2026 22:02

My partner and I are both off Feb half term with and are looking to go away with toddler DD. We are happy to go wherever at this point as long as it is on a flight somewhere!! (been waiting to get confirmation on dates, know it’s last minute!). Does anyone have any inspiring ideas or locations? City break or beach with a toddler? Places we’ve considered last minute are Egypt for sun (but the flights back are rubbish and I’m a teacher so have to be back latest Sunday), NY, Europe City (which ones?!). Too many ideas and we can’t narrow them down so hoping someone can recommend!
Thanks!

Gdansk was lovely, and quite cheap, reasonable opportunities for kids too, I guess ours were 7&9 but enjoyed.

The Canary Islands. 4 hour flight beaches, sun and day trips to cities or local nature reserves.

Chamonix, in the French Alps. Flight to Geneva then one hour on a bus. Small and picturesque. It will be cold, though.

I’ve heard people say February is a good time to visit Rome, although I’ve only ever been in summer.

Paris? You could take your DD to Disneyland for the day.

Concur with the Canary Islands suggestion. Lots of flights from the UK, glorious sunshine once there and yet not too hot in February.

We’re having the coldest winter for a decade, so I’d give NY a miss this time.

How about Seville? Should be pleasant this time of year.

Unless money is no object, I would look at what flights are reasonably priced from your favoured airports by searching for 'everywhere' on skyscanner. Also look at the deals section on package holiday sites such as jet2holidays, Tui, Easyjet, BA, depending on which airports you can use.

If you want a beach, the Canaries would probably be a good choice, plus there's always interesting things to do such as all the Cesar Manrique arty stuff and volcanoes, vineyards and landscapes in Lanzarote.

But I'm not sure about Seville's weather being pleasant in the next couple of weeks. Forecast is very unsettled and they're expecting an awful storm there today.

NY will be freezing
Canaries for a beach holiday but tbh I would get your city breaks in white you can , you're going to be stuck with beach holidays for years while they're growing up .
Seville
Brugge
Venice (great time to go )
Krakow
Budapest

Don't go to any European mountains. It's ski season. The French alps in particular will be busy as the French schools are on holiday then.

Malaga.

Mydogisagentleman · 04/02/2026 06:15

Seville
Cordoba
Morocco

A great selection of some places we hadn’t thought of thanks!! Will definitely bear in mind the cold in NY then. We went to virgin and they had some good deals hence the considering it but maybe it’s not wise with a toddler!

Canaries I did consider but on TUI etc I couldn’t seem to find any good hotels with kids stuff etc - not like the ones you get Turkey/Egypt/Dubai etc with kids pools and slides and AI. Maybe I’m looking in the wrong place!

Carnaries won’t have as many slides etc but by this time most family friendly AI places will be sold out.

sundayvibeswig22 · 04/02/2026 07:57

Gran Canaria is around 22/23 degrees atm. The radisson in Puerto de Mogan is a good family hotel.

winterbluess · 04/02/2026 08:02

I'd probably just do canaries if you want a warm beach holiday. I'd personally stay away from egypt/morocco/Tunisia but that's just me. Or a city break if you'd rather see more things

xjox1983 · 04/02/2026 08:15

Most of the ai hotels in the canaries will be sold out and to be honest the pools are still quite cold in Feb anyway.
places like Fanbe in Tenerife
purto rico in Gran Canaria have so much for the kids to do.

also look at 6 days instead of 7 we got brilliant flight times doing this and 600 cheaper with basicly the same about of time due to flight times

Musicaltheatremum · 04/02/2026 08:53

Jet2 have some great holidays in the canaries. Have a look at their website too.

lulabelleread · 04/02/2026 09:36

Fab will take a look thanks. If we choose city break can anyone recommend any that are good for toddlers? She is 20 months and walking just fine, happy to go in the pushchair too (but not all the time!). Just wondering if availability would be better for city breaks then do a longer break at Easter

Malaga/Seville but do check the 2
week weather forecast.

Alternative option, somewhere with plenty of indoor child friendly places. Copenhagen I think has good child friendly museums (not been yet)
