Venice airport transfer help please!

We’re a family of 5 going to Venice Easter weekend. Annoyingly flights have been changed and now arrive at midnight!!!! Hotel is fine, they said reception is 24/7… but advised to check out transport from Marco Polo. We’re staying in Cannaregio.
How do I navigate the seemingly endless companies offering transfers?! Looking for recommendations ideally as no proper public transport will be running. I know this is going to be expensive….

Can the hotel not arrange a taxi transfer?
We’ve flown into Venice numerous times and our hotel/campsite have always sorted the transfer for us.
Cost wise, we’ve paid about €110 to get to Cavallino or Carole which is probably a little further than you are going- although the time of day may make it a little more expensive for you possibly?

I’d email the hotel in the first instance and ask.

We arrived at midnight and got the bus to the main bus stop area. Our hotel was about a 2 minute walk from there.

Last bus from Marco Polo to Piazzale Roma is at 1.10am. Tickets are 12 Euro each, one way.

Whereabouts is your hotel in Cannaregio? If it's near Santa Lucia train station then it's easily walkable from Piazzale Roma.

The last Alilaguna boat from Marco Polo is 12.20am so you won't catch that.

Otherwise it's water taxi from the airport (dread to think how much that would cost) or a normal taxi (ie by road) to Piazzale Roma and walk from there.

It looks like vaporetto services finish by midnight, so unless you can get a water taxi to take you close to your hotel, it looks like you'll need to walk from Piazzale Roma however you get there.

Sounds like I need to look properly at the map… and contact the hotel!

There's also a stopping bus service from Marco Polo to Piazzale Roma - line 5.

https://orari.actv.it/line.html?service=AUT&linename=5&subsector=1-urbano&direction=1&time=21%3A10&date=2026-02-03

Last buses at 12.40am and 1.10am.

Obviously check timetables for the date you're arriving!

I’ve used https://www.suntransfers.com/ before from a few European airports. Only time there was a mistake ( a shared transfer instead of private but still timely) full refund

If the buses are still running they will be the quickest way. There are a few different companies (as I found out when I was queuing for the wrong one!)

As well as being expensive, it's a bit of a waste taking a water taxi at night as you can't see anything, which is the whole point of splurging on one usually.

The express bus run by ATVO has a last departure of 1.10 am which should be ok?

Lol at the two spammers advertising driven hotel transfers. I doubt they have aquatic cars

Venice can be quite overwhelming with the different options between the bus, water taxi, and land cabs. If your hotel is in Mestre or near Piazzale Roma, a land car is much faster for getting close to your accommodation with luggage. To avoid the chaos at the arrivals hall, we opted for a ride through Transfeero. The driver was waiting right at the exit with a sign, so we didn't have to wait in the long taxi line. It’s a good idea to confirm if your hotel has a boat landing or if you need to be dropped at the main car square before you book anything.
