We have 3 weeks holiday in August and would like to go long haul. We have travelled a lot & are drawn to off the track places but also are very busy & want to relax, so looking for adventurous but not too adventurous & without masses of planning to stitch itineraries together. We are feeling uninspired & struggling to make a decision.
we used to live in South Africa but our youngest doesn’t remember it, so we like the idea of an African safari for his sake - but don’t want to visit SA in August because… we have teenage girls who want sun, sand & a high UV index & I’ve never been so cold as in inadequately insulated SA homes in winter… but if it was December we had off, we would be going to South Africa! But it’s not…
So for the Africa box, places on the list - Tanzania/Kenya/Zambia maybe combined with Zanzibar for the girls? We haven’t been to Kenya before but worried it’s a bit pricey...
or maybe forget about it, go to SA another time, & think about Asia? it is of course the wrong time of year for lots of places which is inconvenient!
budget - as little as possible but this is also a bit of a last hurrah of a family holiday… so flexible.
inspiration required!
