So charming, but not extremely central.

IndigoBluey · 02/02/2026 20:30

It looks very nice, good price too. From a quick google maps search, it’s showing a 20 minute walk into the main centre, would that be about right. I’m a good walker but it is more for evenings, walking back.

I’d stay in Baixa OP. It’s much more central and in a nice, safe area. Somewhere in the vicinity of the Praca do Comercio. I’ve stayed in Rue Madalena, have a look at Hotel Madalena.

The subway and buses are all very busy like London at night. We stayed in Saldhana, its of nice restaurants up there.

Thanks, going to have a good browse this week. Ideally central and not having to rely on public transport except from visiting must sees and the like

Alfama is a lovely area. We stayed at Memmo Alfama Hotel which was really nice.

Ubers are very cheap in Lisbon so you can maybe afford to stay a little further out. Otherwise the tram system runs relatively late! Great city!

Lurleene · 03/02/2026 02:16

We stayed here last year, clean, comfy and great value, next to a lovely park and very handy for the bus and subway.

I loved Memmo Alfama- views from rooftop bar and breakfast area were beautiful

We stayed a Browns Central hotel- very central and lovely
rooms

Alfama is really nice but hilly. The tram 28 goes up there. Chiado is also a good area. Baixa is handy for everything and easy to walk to and from the main visitor spots.

i came here to recommend Browns 😊 Lovely room, and excellent customer service. A very nice bar where they welcomed us with complimentary cocktails!

I stayed in Browns Central last weekend, perfect spot for walking around

MrLarsonsNailGun · 03/02/2026 19:04

Stayed here a few years ago just after it opened, it’s a lovely hotel, few minutes from the metro (Picoas) which we used to get around the city.

We stayed in this locally run hotel. Loved the area and there is a fantastic restaurant just up the street. They have apartments as well as hotel rooms.
