Two weeks or ten days ish
When I mentioned the above places my adult daughters said...not safe !
But I looked online and doesn't say Don't Travel
Am planning all inclusive pool / beach mainly ,maybe a couple of organised days out
Any thoughts ...

We had a great time in Marrakech. Certainly felt very safe, and very welcoming. Possibly the ability to speak passable French is helpful in Morroco.

Thanks
I can speak some French and can understand more
Were you in a hotel ?

We stayed in Palmerai. All inclusive, which was a first for us and probably not something we’d normally choose. But food was good, facilities excellent, free and regular shuttle into Marrakech. It was a chill somewhere warm week away. Worked for us. Plenty to see in Marrakech as well.

I’ve been to Marrakesh and did not feel unsafe. We stayed in a riad in the medina. We also visited at the end of March and weather was low 20s. Food was excellent.

Morocco is very safe. Anecdotally much safer and more pleasant than Egypt.

Egypt - some resorts are very much in their own bubble as it were.

Sharm el sheikh and Hurghada are both like that. You can spend the whole time in your hotel. If you do go out it’s mostly other hotels.

they have security people around the tourist “area” as it were.

My daughter went to Morocco last March and hated it! It poured with rain all week, she found the leering men and the animal cruelty unpleasant. She liked the food though! I think the Canaries are a safer bet for weather and safety.

I've only been to Marrakech, and this was 25 years ago, but really enjoyed it and would go back. I wasn't alone which may make a difference, but I would go alone. We stayed just outside the city gates, near La Mamounia hotel.

We had an AI week in Marrakesh over Easter a couple of years ago. Had a great time and never felt unsafe. The hotel did a shuttle to the city centre for sightseeing and we also did a day trip to the mountains. Top tip for that time of year would be that I was very glad we paid a bit more for a hotel where one of the outdoor pools was heated !

Also went to Egypt the same year. A few days in Cairo then a few days in Luxor, b&b, so probably not what you are looking at but again never felt unsafe.

There’s a bit of hassle in both countries to look at stuff if you’re walking round the markets or shops but to me that’s just a bit annoying rather than making me feel unsafe.

if you’re looking at North Africa we had a great AI week in Tunisia in October half term last year. Again, never felt unsafe.

I went to Tangier a year ago. It was a lovely place, stunning. The beach was gorgeous and the sun was hot.

But I did find myself being leered at a lot by the men. I am blonde, and they would stop in the street and stare at me. I did feel uncomfortable, but luckily I was there with my partner.

YourJustOrca · 30/01/2026 19:16

I haven’t been to Morocco but will it be warm then? I went to Tunisia mid May and the weather was mixed.

Twilightstarbright · 30/01/2026 19:18

We went to Sharm el sheikh for NYE. Stayed in a lovely hotel and did lots of snorkelling. Felt very safe and no bad tummies either.

Thank you all

I would never go to Egypt again, my friend and i could not leave our hotel without being sexually harassed by every single male from 16 to 60.it was vile. Never saw a single Egyptian woman out in public, horribly macho culture, it was unbearable. No prices on anything even in the supermarket, forced to haggle with horrible men even just buying a bottle of water. Exhausting and depressing. Not much of a holiday tbh

princesspadam · 05/02/2026 15:50

I never want to go to Marrakesh again as long as I live
i felt safer on the subway in NYC
