Hi all, im looking at booking my first single parent holiday with my DS who is 3 years old. Just looking for some recommendations of where people recommend that isn’t too pricey, feels safe, not a long flight? Whether you preferred all inclusive or b&b? Any tips? TIA!

Menorca is lovely at that age, royal son bou for a low key all inclusive.

I don't enjoy beach or pool based holidays as a lone parent because you can't relax and switch off, you have to constantly be entertaining. So, I like city breaks where you can have a mix of sightseeing in the morning and relax in the afternoon. Seville and barcelona have been great for this, did an apartment in seville which worked really well and a resort style hotel in Barcelona. Self catering is quite good when they are little because you know you aren't tied to restaurant hours and can always make something they'll definitely eat - but it's nice to have the hotel option too if it's all inclusive and then you don't have to deal with cooking or dishes!

I'm a big advocate for cruises for lone parents too- there's normally a creche or nursery, and everything is organised for you so it removes some of the mental load.

My advice would be to not feel guilty about using a crèche or kids club for your DS (unless he absolutely hates it, of course). He’ll be spending time with children his own age, making friends, being more independent; you’ll be recharging your batteries which is so important in order to keep on parenting by yourself. A lot of hotels don’t offer kids clubs until 4yo, but it’s not impossible to find ones which take 3yos. The one mentioned above by PP does.
