Easyjet - anyone checked in at Gatwick airport

Hi, due to 2 people not travelling with us in Feb I moved flights on a booking to Oct and added 2 more (one for me) - all have the same booking ref. The problem is my passport expires in July so easyjet won't let me book in online due to this Oct flight saying my passport has expired.

I chatted to customer service and they said I can check in at the airport. Is this correct does anyone know? I can't renew passport in time before going and I don't want to pay or have time for one day fast track

I never check in so early, just get a new passport and do it the day before online.

I fly Easyjet from Gatwick a lot but I never looked if there is an check-in option.

are you sure it's not because your passport doesn't have the required length left on it when you travel? being in date isn't enough for most destinations now, many require 6 months remaining.

I’m a bit unclear about your dates. Obviously you can’t travel in October without renewing your passport if it expires in July. You don’t need passport details to book, just names. You can’t check in until 30 days before the flight but we usually just do it the day before. If you are actually travelling in February, it depends on which country you’re going to as to whether you need 3 or 6 months left on your passport. You may also have fallen foul of the need for your passport to be less than ten years old for the EU. This can cause problems if you had extra time added from a previous passport when you renewed. You can check in at the airport but do make sure the passport is valid or you will still not be able to travel.

Ah, it wasn't just me then...

I agree, the OP should be able to book now, passport validity normally only comes into play when completing API and/or checking in.

Why are you checking in, in January for flights in October?

Does your passport expire in the July before the flight or afterwards? Obviously if it's before you need a new passport.

Checking in is usually something like 30 - 60 days before the flight isn't it? You can do it at the airport but it's generally better to do it before in case of over bookings.
