Well Marbella is a big place, do you want to be up by Puerto Banus or in Marbella town centre not that far (walking distance) from the old town which is very pretty.
I have been really impressed with the Melia chain of hotels, we stayed at the one (ME Marbella) in Puerto Banus and it was very good, nice location on the edge of PB so not on the main strip but really easy to walk into the port from. The Hotel don Pepe Gran Melia in Marbella centre looks to tick all your boxes.

There’s an incredible hotel just outside of Puerto Banus called Puente Romano. We visit regularly for date nights when we are over but I’d love to stay there. They have Nobu, Coya all on site plus an amazing bar to sit and people watch and loads of restaurants and cafes, it’s a full on resort but so chic! You get a wide variety of people of all ages so it’s a great place to people watch.

Anantara Villa Padierna is also stunning. It’s tucked right out of the way (Michelle Obama stayed there) so great if you want a more chilled, quiet sort of break. You’d still only be 10-15 minutes from Puerto Banus if you wanted to visit though. They also have a first class golf course if that’s of interest.

There’s also the El Fuerte which has undergone huge renovations in recent years. Haven’t been inside but walked along the promenade and it looks lovely. Worth a look on insta

Although I think the rooms etc are meant to be nice, most of the restaurants and all of the shops are taped off and closed because an on going dispute between the owners and the local council
