Travel insurance while pregnant

Hello,

I’m due to go on a short European break soon and will be 26 weeks pregnant.

I assumed I would need special travel insurance to cover me during pregnancy, but I’ve tried a few websites and they don’t have pregnancy in the list of conditions.

I’ve then read that pregnancy isn’t considered a “condition” in this situation so I don’t need to declare it. Can I just get some advice from people on here - in your experience, is this correct?

And if there’s any other advice for travelling while pregnancy I’d be grateful for that too!

I will be taking my maternity notes with me and have ordered a GHIC card. I don’t think I need any sort of fit to fly letter as I’m below 28 weeks and it’s not a twin pregnancy or anything like that.

thanks in advance!

That’s correct yeah, you don’t need to advise them of pregnancy I think it’s just if you had other conditions related to pregnancy e.g. gestational diabetes you may have to declare that.

I would recommend getting a note from midwife confirming how far along you are though, I flew at 25 weeks and was asked for a fit to fly even though I didn’t need one and it was a hassle trying to explain!

Ah thank you that is good to know! Better to have one just in case 👍
