Everywhere seems to be “monsoon season”.
we did Thailand gulf islands last August so keen to do somewhere different.
we have teens with us and want a mix of nice beach resorts and activities. Contemplated Vietnam but unsure on weather?

Western Australia is perfect. Fly direct to Perth then catch a flight up to Exmouth. It is an absolutely bucket list destination and the weather is beautiful at that time of year. You can not only spot many humpback whales and whale sharks but you can swim with humpback whales. There are absolutely loads of activities around there such as gorge walking, kayaking, kite surfing and swimming with the Manta Rays.

The perfect adventure and beach holiday for teens in glorious weather in August!

Kenya and Tanzania. Could do a two centre holiday for safari in Kenya and beach in Zanzibar. Not much of a time difference either so minimal jet lag.

Interesting. It’s still tropical but southern so the ‘right’ season. Not sure I could face a Perth Flight these days, but definitely an extra to the usual suspects.

I’ll add Brazil to minipie’s list.

Thanks all for the fantastic suggestions ( I think I’ve got places to consider for the rest of my life!).
we booked flights yesterday to Kuala Lumpur as they were really reasonably priced. So we’ve locked that in and now just considering do we do two nights there then move onto Borneo and from there Bali with a view to coming back home via KL.
I really want to do Costa Rica one year so will be looking to see when is best there for weather.
If anyone now has suggestions for Borneo and Bali that would be much appreciated!

I think if you only have 2 weeks then that’s a bit much. I would focus on Malaysia (look at Perhentian islands, Tioman, Redang for beach plus Melacca or Penang), maybe a stop in Singapore, then Borneo. That’s loads for 2 weeks, you could spend 2 weeks in Borneo alone if you wanted. Save Bali for another trip.

Oh and Costa Rica is best in Dec-April (like so many tropical places) but April is very hot! Many families do go in our summer holidays though, depends how much rain bothers you and if you get lucky - I’ve had friends who hardly saw any rain and others whose clothes went mouldy as they never dried out. Both went in summer…

If you only have 2 weeks and flights to KL I think I would do city break in KL, then Ubud in Bali for 4 nights for culture, temples, rice terraces. They fly to Flores and see Komodo national park before flopping on a lovely beach in Nusa Dua

We’re going to central Vietnam, going via KL for a few days.

We are flying to Singapore and have two weeks. We’ve stayed in Singapore before so don’t need to spend much time there again. Any ideas for August please?
