Sri Lanka in August

I really wanted to go somewhere different this summer and had considered Sri Lanka for me and 2 of my adult children. We can get flights for approximately £5k, do you think other travel and accommodation could be done for an additional £5k?

Easily and luxuriously.
Those flights are expensive though! Assuming from UK? Direct flights currently available for £1055 and ones with a short stopover for £750.

I have travelled recently with two adult children, I was able to do all accommodation, private driver and expenses 1.5K that was a mix of homestays and hotels. If you want everything to be luxurious you should double it but no way do you need 5K

I'd love to do something like this! How did you arrange for a private driver?

Oh- I’ll have another look at flights then. I was looking from Manchester and with a stop. Where are those flights from?

@Jogreen Those are from London. Emirates from Manchester is £1170 for a random 2 weeks in August via Expedia.

Any recommendations for accommodation and especially drivers would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I would splash out on Heritance Kandalama - two nights is enough you will get to see Sygria and probably elephants, its a beautiful designed hotel in the rock and worth paying a bit extra. Drivers are normal in Sri Lanka and accommodation usually provided by the hotels for them. Everything else I just use booking.com and cross reference with Tripadvisor reviews. Homestays are well worth it for the local experience. I used Gayan from Ceylon Tours & excursions; Matara - we planned an itinerary via email and went from there.
