Wrong date of birth

I've just booked flights for our holiday this year and my daughter's DOB has been entered wrong 🤦🏽‍♀️ the month and year are correct but the day is wrong.

I booked her as an adult anyway because she is 11 when we fly out and 12 when we fly home so it was easier to book her as an adult. Is this going to cause huge problems?

The passport and ticket DOBs need to match. Contact the airline.

Justmuddlingalong · 21/01/2026 18:18

The ticket will have to match her passport, surely.

Tiptopflipflop · 21/01/2026 18:19

Usually if you contact them within 24 hours they change it for free.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 21/01/2026 18:22

You need to correct it, even budget airlines tend to allow a short period after booking to correct mistakes without fees. Do it immediately.

Thanks. I didn't book directly with the airport. I booked with a third party. Do I contact the airline or them?

Both. You’ll probably have to pay

Nugg · 21/01/2026 18:34

Definitely contact them, but I would argue that the third-party needs to pay if it was an agent.
I had similar last year my partner had a shortened name that I was not aware of think Tim actual name Timothy type name. It was over £120 to change it, which was more than the bloody flight cost!!!

Arlanymor · 21/01/2026 18:37

Contact the third party initially - was it their error or yours?

JJTDH · 21/01/2026 18:38

It's trying to get hold of them that is the problem. They are open 24 hours the claim but I was 33rd in the queue and over an hour's wait time. Will try again tonight.

Yes 100% get it changed or she could be denied boarding.

JJTDH · 21/01/2026 18:38

Thanks all. I went onto BAs website and I can view my booking on there with the details sent by the third party and I can change it in the manage my bookings section. Is this enough or do I still need to contact the third party?

Whose error? If you typed it in wrong then they’re going to charge you to change it, and they usually charge more than the cost of the flight if you’re flying budget.

JJTDH · 21/01/2026 21:26

Ok spoke to them and they told to email them and as it is less than 24 hours since I booked they will change it for free.
