South Portugal too hot for kids in August?

We were looking at Tavira. Ideally we’d go in May half term but the flights are £££. August is more reasonable but a bit worried that the temps would be too high for my kids (youngest is 5). We’ve been around Faro in June/July before kids and didn’t find it too
hot at all. Anyone aware of humidity, typical breezes etc. or alternative destinations that wouldn’t be as hot but warm enough for swimming etc.

Last year hottest it got in the shade was 37c

I live in the Algarve, it's generally no hotter in August than it is in July. It's heaving with kids all Summer, so I'm not sure why it would be unsuitable, if you like a classic hot weather holiday. Go somewhere with a pool and you'll have a great time.

ETA: it's usually dry, not humid, so the heat is nice.

We've gone to the Algarve with young children every August for the last 10years precisely for the reason that it isn't insanely hot (and not overly expensive). It's usually 28-30, one year it was 35 for a couple of days just. There is generally a sea breeze and the Atlantic is cooler than the Mediterranean. I love it there (and the kids do too) but now they are older they are starting to want to go see the places that their friends are going (Turkey, Greece, Spain) and imo those places are too risky for heatwaves in August

A decent pool is important . It’s fine in August, just be aware the beach is a boat trip and it can be quite emotional with hot kids in August ! You won’t want to do it every day . Make sure you have access to a decent pool and you will love it .
