Gala dinner dress

Hello everyone
I am going on River cruise and we will have Gala dinner. I really want to look nice but don't know what would be appropriate. Any ideas please 😊

Which river cruise line are you booked with?

On the whole river cruises are a lot less formal than ocean cruises. A few people wore a nice dress on special evenings but nowhere near as dressy as a formal night on an ocean cruise. Some people didn’t even dress for dinner as there was no time after an excursion

A maxi dress with heals and a clutch bag

We have Gala dinner on our River cruise wich will be hold with captain and we have to dress formally it's on their website .

I'm not sure you even need the heels but a maxi dress and little bag sounds great. Also depending on where you are a wrap , little shrug type thing ( I have never been on a river cruise but have seen them advertised during watching reruns of Foyle's War 😂 - so Norway etc )

Look on eBay/vinted, I’ve bought lots of cruise dinner dresses there for v little!! Remember a cardigan/wrap - air conditioned restaurants!!

I'm curious - which company? I've been on about 15 river cruises and never been told to dress formally. And I've never had a wardrobe capable of hanging a maxi dress!

I'm sorry but I don't attend to reveal what company and what River we off to . I was only asking about what dress would be good for Gala dinner with a captain. That's all.

Less glitter on a river i would say though. My tip is to opt for 3/4 length rather than full as I trip up if it’s moving too easily
