Asking for the impossible?B&B with good kids pool

Margaritawithlime · 13/01/2026 18:14

Trying to sort out an extended family holiday and want to throw myself into the sea. Priorities are changing by the minute and we have left it quite last minute due to some health issues that my parents needed clearance for.

Top priorities for the gang are:

  • B&B or if not, a choice of board options. (Mum and dad DEF don’t want AI, sister and bro in law wouldn’t mind. B&B a happy medium)
  • Good size pool. Ideally with slides. Just one would do! Our son is ten and all the cousins are girls aged 6 and under so he’s a bit on his own. He loves to swim and would love a slide or two.
  • other children! Not massive resort but a few other kids to mingle with and maybe an evening mini disco for the little ones.
  • walkable to some nice bars and restaurants. Dream would be an old town or something to see / do which isn’t the same four walls of a hotel.
  • no camping. Sis in law will not entertain it
we are looking for mid August. Flying from Leeds or Manchester. Anywhere but anywhere will do! Oh and the million dollar question - bring it in for 4-4.5 grand for a family of 4 ten nights. Am I on a hiding to nothing ?

Call dial a flight, they do holidays not just flights.

titchy · 13/01/2026 18:44

Where to? If you book flights and accommodation separately should be easily doable. Manchester to Palma di Mallorca comes in about £200 currently. Plenty of hotels with break for around £1500 for two people on Booking.com

Margaritawithlime · 13/01/2026 18:45

Ooh dial a flight might be a good shout need a sane outside person to suggest hotels as am going round in circles

Jet2 have loads of options that fit the bill, I’ve screen grabbed this one as it’s the first hotel in the list I’ve been to. Loads of family facilities, plenty to do and see in the resort, Alcudia old town not far away.

I’m probably biased by a life in the travel industry but despite being perfectly capable of it I’d never do separate flight and hotel for a big extended family holiday like this. One cancelled flight / airline liquidation / pandemic and you’re all up the creek without a paddle. Separate flights and hotel for me & DH on a city break for sure, but I don’t take the risk on bigger holidays with DC.

Margaritawithlime · 13/01/2026 18:54

I saw that one and loved the look of it but we need 4 rooms and I assumed there wouldn’t be space. Might see if it can work with the rooms we need thank you

If you could cope with an air-conditioned chalet with bathroom, this campsite has a hotel buffet style breakfast in the restaurant for your fellow travellers wanting the catered experience. Lots of restaurants around and many more within a 15 minute walk. Fly Ryanair into Girona. The price is for accommodation for 4. Kids club plus daily evening activity.
Edited to add: the information is in a picture attached, hopefully it shows up.

For some reason I can’t add the link or the screenshot. Search Interpals Eco Resort on Eurocamp if you are interested. It says £1550 for 10 nights from mid-August.

You could do worse than go into a Hays Travel and ask them, or independent if you have one nearby.

They'll probably sell Jet2 packages and hotels with slides is something you can specify. Or look on the Jet2 website, which you can at least use to identify suitable hotels and then possibly see if it's better booking separately, although you could get a free child place if you book a package.

PrimaniTu · 14/01/2026 05:16

Can’t you find anything on Jet2, Tui or Easyjet Holidays website? You can put in your requirements filter by board, price, dates etc. This would be my first port of call.

I would dismiss the campsite option - I don’t think parents with health issues would want to stay in a caravan or a tent.

Your biggest hurdle will be price. So you’ll need play around with dates. It’s not 4.5k for all of you is it? 6 people inc children.

Forgottenmyphone · 14/01/2026 06:13

Have a look at Cambrils Park Resort, although not sure if the water slides would be too tame for a 10yo! The resort worked well for our extended family and there’s lots to do in the area.

We have tried. I think really the issue is siblings. Whatever I suggest my brother shoots down. Whatever he suggests, my sister vetoes.
Not 6 of us. Per family. There are two families of two adults two kids. One of two adults one baby. And my parents. Everyone wants different things.
I wondered really if anyone knew of a good resort which offered a nice pool, some kids around and wasn’t AI. I keep finding lovely places but the b&b apartments look very small and more suited to couples or families with very young kids.
I think maybe we have found some options so will put them to the fam.
thanks all

If the new options don't work, it sounds like it might be time to give up finding somewhere for everyone to stay in exactly the same place, which is always going to be a compromise somewhere and perhaps just look for your own accommodation options in the same resort town so those who want to stay in a SC apartment can do so, likewise those who want AI or B&B.

As long as everywhere is close by, you can still meet up at the beach or go for lunch/dinner a few times. I'd have thought that most resort towns in places like Spain, including the Balearics and Canaries would offer this - I've certainly seen a mix of hotels and apartments in these places.

PrimaniTu · 14/01/2026 08:48

@Margaritawithlime I imagine you’re all booking separately so how about your BIL & SIL book the AI version, you and your parents can book the half board or the b&b version. You don’t always have to eat together every night.

However seeing as you Bil shoots down options first start with a country you can all agree on, then area then take it from there.

I don’t envy you trying to organise this as it sounds as if you all want slightly different things.

Turkey is good for pool slides but a lot of their hotels are AI. How about staying somewhere where there aren’t any pool slides but there’s a water park close by your ds can go to.

MiddleAgedDread · 14/01/2026 12:51

get yourself on jet2 holidays site - you can search by multiple departure airports, any beach destination, specify your number of people in each room and filter by board type. It will also show you cheaper dates if you're flexible on when you can travel.

TallulahMazda · 14/01/2026 13:07

Eden resort in albufeira may fit the bill.

Pinkieandthebraintakeovertheworld · 14/01/2026 13:11

Posh campsite with little chalets rather than tents? So they have bathrooms and even air conditioning and a working kitchen?

QforCucumber · 14/01/2026 14:14

Also play around with your rooms - since your mum and dad are going add a child to their room, they'll then get that child on a free child place and so will you with 1 child. bringing the overall cost down.

Margaritawithlime · 14/01/2026 23:08

Oh amazing thank you! We have a shortlist now of a few to suggest so fingers crossed!

Just a thought but could you also fly from Liverpool? This might open up a few more options

I don’t think so. We are all a little spaced out as it is but think that’s too far.
So far we have a great choice in Cyprus, one in Tenerife and a couple in Spain and France.
Thanks for all your help gang.

Have a look at Zafiro Menorca in Cala N Bosch, Menorca. The pool has slides and a pirate ship in for children. Cala n Bosch is lovely, it’s got lots of very family friendly restaurants all set around a marina and a beautiful beach,

Goldwren1923 · 15/01/2026 22:54

We had a great time on Ile de Re in France in August on Sandaya camp site but NOT in a tent or motorhome. It has lovely cabins, park right on the great beach, there is a restaurant on site and bakery, and it is 10 min walk to cute town. Pool is small though but they just opened another campsite on the same island with more pools. It was brilliant despite me not being a fan of self catering. And it wasn't too hot in August.
