Have you been to Cap Verde, Mauritius or the Seychelles? Where would you go for a working 16 days trip in Feb? Decent internet, relaxed and with a pool.

Just that really - I'm lucky enough to have the luxury of self-funding 16 days away in Feb. I'll be working 6-7 hours a day, and outside that I'd love to swim twice a day, eat healthy food and relax... so almost like a cross between treating it like a spa and a work holiday. And not too expensive! Ideally very reasonable...which may mean Cap Verde

Where would you go? Or where have you been?

I've realised Im looking for:

  • decent internet: mainly research but some online meetings
  • fairly quiet, and feels relaxed and safe as a single woman
  • decent healthy food so I eat well and lose weight without really thinking about it
  • interesting enough for wandering around - whether walking by the sea or exploring night markets... Im fairly easily pleased
  • a nice pool - I love swimming/aqua aerobics

Or is there somewhere else you'd recommend? Im looking for sun and a similar time zone so really means Africa...

Can you work abroad op? My workplace would absolutely not allow logging in from any of those places.

Lucky you if so!

I think February in Mauritius is cyclone season but I may be wrong

No way to Cape Verde. I’d suggest the Western Cape

Of course she can or why would she ask? Many of us can work from anywhere

@Welle - why not Cape Verde? Love to hear. And where do you recommend on the Western Cape?

And @Christmasbear1 - you're absolutely right! Not a good time to go AT ALL!!!

Maybe she's self employed 🤔

I would say South Africa but I don’t think it’s safe to wander in your own at night in a lot of areas.
Canaries? Won’t be that warm but should still be 18-20 degrees. You could find a nice spa hotel with an indoor pool.
Middle East will be hot but the time zone might be too different.

loveyouradvice · 12/01/2026 23:56

yes self-employed....

Hmm... canaries is appealing but feels a bit too cold

Keen not to go to Middle East - too many memories.... otherwise would be top choice

Not sure why PP was so against Cape Verde?

I went a few years ago and adored it. Sandy beach, hot in December, clean hotels, healthy food... I think it fits the bill perfectly.

I felt entirely safe inside the hotel but on excursions, locals (mainly males) spot your All Inclusive wristband and hound you to come to their restaurant or buy their wares. If alone, I'd only leave the hotel in a group tour. We did some great tours to e.g. the salt river you can float in and to see the baby sharks
