Planning a trip to New York end of April. How many days for a visit to take in the sights / museums etc and any recommendations for places / areas to stay?

We stayed 7 nights and it was amazing but still didn’t fit in everything we wanted to see! Minimum 5 nights for me

We managed New York in 3 days but we were stopping en route to Canada. Could definitely have done with longer. Having said that it was £££.
We stayed at a great hotel and we had a view into the Crysler from our room. I’m going to think of its name in a mo but it was in between Grand Central and the Crysler.
Just down the road from Bryant Park which we enjoyed hanging out in. Walked to 5th Ave, the library, Times Square (don’t stay there it’s crazy busy!)

it was Hyatt Grand Central. I know some people stay just off Manhattan to save money but still have quick journeys onto Manhattan. Long Island City? Jersey City. I got all my info before I went from a NYC travel tips Facebook group page.

5 nights minimum, stay in Midtown, please don’t listen to people who tell you to stay in Brooklyn. Maybe for your 10th visit but certainly not your first. Apart from anything, you will be able to pop back to your hotel for a rest, which is invaluable and helps maximised your time.

Don’t overplan, the best days are the ones where you aimlessly wander.
