Aer Lingus cabin bag sizing

Morning all,

Has anyone travelled AL recently London to Dublin?

We are going LHR to US, via Dublin pre clearance and I can't remember if AL use the cabin bag sizer or not?

I usually fly BA who have a 1cm bigger cabin bag, and my cabin bag is 1/2cm bigger than the Aer lingus allowance.

Would you risk it or buy a new suitcase?

did this trip last summer with my Ryanair sized cabin bag. No one checked and others had visibly larger bags.

@FourForksSake amazing thank you!

BA don't check ever so I assumed Aer Lingus the same, but you never know these days!

when i’ve flown AL i’ve not even been able to take a proper cabin bag. something tiny under the seat but even though you have been able to book cabin bags and i knew everyone in my row we couldn’t book any overhead storage (and didn’t want to check bags)

Thanks @TumbledTussocks i definitely have two bags from london

55x40x24 and then a small one under the seat.

Thing is, I need to know if my 55.5cm high bag will make it through or not!

It does depend on who you get, but as long as you're not obviously trying it on, Aer Lingus are generally reasonable (not utter bastards like ryanair) - especially since you're flying onward and have all the luggage (like PP said, their 'extra-budget' class doesn't allow you anything more than the small piece under the seat these days).

I think they do have a sizer, but at Christmas I flew back with a bag that was filled with stuffed toys, and the lady laughed when I said that it started out the right dimensions and squidged back down to them and let me through with no issue

@GiantTeddyIsTired thank you so much! So basically like BA then. Sensible cabin crew.

We used to do London to Dublin all the time but it's ages since we did it.

I shall go with my normal cabin bag and my fingers crossed. I don't mind if it has to go in the hold from Dub to US at the gate, but there's no way I trust a bag making the connection from LHR to US and not get lost in Dublin!
