Cork / surrounds in Feb half term?

Im scrolling on possible destinations for Feb half term. Probably won’t go anywhere but I can daydream!
We’ve got a 14 and 16yo. I’ve never been to that part of Ireland but would love to go. Thinking of flying mon-Fri in / out of Cork and hiring a car.
Would like to experience beautiful scenery, Irish culture, especially music and things that are like to appeal to typically grumpy teens. Ideally with drives that aren’t too long between places. Where could we go? How many places shoukd we try and visit?
Also it needs to be on the budget end of the spending spectrum!

Hmm. Not sure I would recommend Cork at that time of year and with teens. (I'm from there).

It's better in the summer, weather wise, obviously and more to do for younger children or adults. Mine love going there with us but they are young adults and like the pubs and restaurants.

West Cork is beautiful in the summer. Also places like Kinsale. There is not a huge amount to do in terms of museums etc. in the city though it is a nice city to live in and socialise in.

What do your kids like doing on holidays?

Only if you're OK with it potentially raining the entire time. (Am also from Cork.) I adore Cork, for all its irritations, and west Cork is my favourite place in the world, and has a beautiful coast and scenic small towns and mountains, but you are not going to be able to enjoy scenery you can't see because of low cloud and poor visibility.

Cork city is a nice place to live with a lively cultural life and an excellent music scene, but it's not somewhere with a massive specific draw to tourists. My grumpy teenager thinks it's the most boring place on the planet.
