Have you ever solo travelled abroad and stayed in a hostel?

I'm hoping to travel in April and there are some beautiful looking hostels. I've never stayed in one before but I quote enjoy sleeping in a communal room like in hospital. The cost is super cheap too! £60 for a long weekend.

Yes, loads of times in my 20s! It was completely fine and you can often opt to stay in single-sex dorms or single rooms if you prefer. I wouldn't stay in a dorm now though as I have issues with sleep and probably wouldn't be able to relax. But it was a great way to travel cheaply.

Oh, some hostels even host social/cultural events as well, which can be a lot of fun and a great way to meet people, if that's what you're after!

I use hostels (solo travel and with my dp and/or dd) but haven't used dorms for years. I'm too old for that - I'm willing to pay more for a bit of comfort and privacy.

But I used dorms when I was young and they were fine. There are always plenty of single travellers.

Oh yeah - they're great for meeting people! I'd go single sex rather than mixed dorm, and take ear plugs and sn eye mask.

Yes in my 20's (both in female and mixed dorms) but I wouldn't sleep in a communal room now if you paid me.

I’ve used hostels a few time for overnight stays and stayed in single sex dorms.
Take a padlock for lockers.
