Vietnam or Thailand

Looking to do a 2 week holiday end of June/into July and considering Vietnam or Thailand. Never been to either. Would like to end on a beach for around 4-5 days. Any tips, recommendations on where/itinerary? I’m keen to make the most of the two weeks.
again, is it best to try and book myself or anyone know of a reasonably priced tour operator?

I loved both but went more than 10 years ago. My favourite place in Vietnam was Ha Long Bay, my favourite place in Thailand was Koh Phi Phi. Enjoy!!!

I went 30 years ago!!

I love Hanoi (city) in Vietnam, and I loved Ko Pho Phi in Thailand.

Both lovely.

Have a fun trip.

I've spent lots of time in both, if it's ending in a nice beach you're after Thailand is probably the best bet overall.

With two weeks, depends on budget obviously, but what are your interests? Do you like history, sight-seeing, big cities, smaller towns? Mountains, lakes, rural etc?

You'll be better booking yourself if wishing to save money..it's really easy to arrange hotels and transfers. Both counties are really well set up for travel connections. Happy to write more tomorrow if you can expand on what sort of a holiday you're wanting, budget etc. 0

Agree with this, for awesome beaches I reckon the Thai islands win out over Vietnam actually!

If Vietnam, you can consider doing some beach in the Central part of Vietnam like Danang, Hoian, Quy Nhon and Nha Trang, weather wise.

It’s rainy season in Thailand particularly in south so some boats/ferries not generally running etc. Vietnam has drier central areas at that time. Thailand beaches far superior but better to visit Dec-Apr. That said, it doesn’t tend to be prolonged rain and plenty of very hot sun in Thailand in summer. Koh Samet is easy to do by car (and short boat) from Bangkok at that time and we’ve been many times in those months.

Thailand, hands down. With a little bit of research on TripAdvisor, you can easily find a local tour operator who can sort an itinerary based on what you'd like to do/experience.

Holalolaholiday we have been to Sri Lanka twice and loved travelling around seeing the temples, tea plantations, being in the villages away from the very touristy areas etc. We started off in Colombo seeing and exploring the big city and then worked our way around part of the country with a driver so, in essence, we like it all. I’d prob give the mountains a miss if it’s just to see panoramic views. We do love culture, but the ping pong bars of Thailand are so far removed from what I’d want to see in Thailand if I went!! Brits abroad isn’t me! Thanks for your response it is appreciated
