Holiday help needed

holidayhelp456 · 08/01/2026 13:06

I posted previously and got some great help and had an amazing holiday so thought I would ask for help again.

I am looking for a holiday, it needs to be fairly short flights (under 5 hours), I was looking at all inclusive but I have no clue if these are good as we want a nice resort, good food, adults only would be a plus. I just want something nice and relaxing.

We are looking at September/early October but want it to still be warm enough for pool weather.

Does anyone have any recommendations for resorts?

Amavi in Cyprus is fantastic. It’s got quite a few restaurants to choose from (including a La carte), no loud music or entertainment, really short airport transfer (20 mins) and it’s within easy walk of shops and cafes. You get allocated sun beds on arrival (you choose from a plan of available beds) so there aren’t any sun bed wars or you don’t have to get up at stupid o clock to make sure you get one. It’s got an indoor pool in addition to the outside pools, so you can still swim if the mornings and evenings are a bit chilly.

That sounds great, I will look it up, thank you

This says it is a couples only resort, what does this mean? I was looking for 4 adults but its me and my husband and 2 adult children. Does that mean this isnt an option? Ive not heard of a couples only resort before

Ivi mare is an adults only hotel just a bit further along the coast from the Amavi and they do half board or all inclusive, we always go half board as dont really drink a lot and like to go out during the day

Greece/cyprus/southern Italy/spain including canaries are all possibilities. For two people I wouldn’t actually book until 2 week out unless you have specific requirements like mobility because you can see how the weather is, can be quite variable at that time of year - we had glorious weather this year but last year they had floods same week and further east they had torrential rains this year

Its for 4 people. I think these are the areas we have been looking at but no idea what would be a good resort, really want somewhere with decent food and just a nice overall resort.

This question gets asked quite a bit on Tripadvisor. ‘Couples Only’ is their strap line but as well as couples we have seen solo guests, and groups of three and five and more, of different ages and genders. There were several tables in the buffet restaurant set up for 4 or even 6. The staff are lovely and they make everyone feel welcome.

@holidayhelp456 You could go on the Amavi Tripadvisor reviews and use the search bar to search for reviews which mention “solo” and “friends”. I’ve just done that and there are loads of recent solo stays and people staying with friends.
