Greek hotel recommendations near a town/village

Can anyone recommend a hotel in Greece that's good for children and within walking distance of a town or harbour? We've done a lot of all inclusive holidays in recent years and now fancy staying somewhere where we can stroll out for dinner / drinks in the evening. Everything I'm finding seems to be in the middle of nowhere.

Grecotel Marine Palace and Creta Maris

Vasia Resort in Sissi, Crete. Lovely village - no beach though.

Try Argostoli in Kefalonia.

Try Rhodes …

There are beaches within walking distance

join the Facebook group Friends of Pefkos and have a look at that. Its on the island of Rhodes and it’s a really lovely place to stay

Go to Roda on Corfu, go self catering and enjoy the local vibe. You and your kids will love it.

Lixouri on Kefalonia. A traditional Greek town with a harbour and square with restaurants. Greek families and children hang out til late. Short ferry ride over to Argostoli. There are turtles swimming in the harbour bay every morning at Argostoli. Kefalonia is a beautiful island and Lixouri is chilled with a traditional family feel. You can hire a car and drive to some beautiful beaches and can visit Fiskardo and Assos . Lixouri has a traditional charm which draws me back.

Andromeda hotel apartments on Kos. Family run, wonderfully friendly and easy to get to restaurants, harbour etc.
