Would you choose Slovenia or Romania for family holiday

We're a family of 4 with 11 year old twin boys. Looking for a slightly different holiday this summer. Thinking Romania has theme parks and mountains and Draculas Castle plus black sea. Slovenia has mountains, tree houses and we could incorporate a trip over the border to Italy for Gardaland. Which would you choose? And if anyone has done similar trips any recommendations greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

I’m going to follow this thread OP. I’m thinking Slovenia with a trip to Zagreb and trieste so we’ve see 3 countries in one week. Kids are 13 and 10 so similar to yours. I also like the sound of the activities at lake bled and the water park where the Eurocamp is. Unsure where to base ourselves though for the week- Eurocamp, Ljubljana or lake bled or a combination of 2 of them. I haven’t even thought about Romania so will watch with interest!

Gardaland isn’t near the Slovenian border. Slovenia itself is great there are lots of different activities and landscapes from the coast to the mountains. You could do some water based activities such as rafting / kayaking, the mountain coaster, the caves and canyons. It’s also pretty cheap to eat when there as well.

They’re both amazing. Slovenia feels a lot more European. If Romania definitely focus on Transylvania.

Slovenia is amazing, very friendly, inexpensive, and there are lots of activities available, plus the concrete beach and Lake Bled for water sports and swimming. We went to see the human fish and I am still freaked out by it, but my DS loved them!

Slovenia is beautiful. (Haven't been to Romania.) If you go to Slovenia, I'd recommend visiting Postojna Caves which are truly spectacular.

Romania is amazing , you can always do a day trip to Bulgaria from there . Draculas Castle and the fairytale Peles Castle is a fantastic trip. Bucharest is a friendly cheap city . You will not regret Romania!!!

Slovenia is good. Resorts like Kranska Gora are a better alternative to the capital, and Lake Bled which is packed out. Though you'd need a car, so you can get around to Lake Bled as required, Lake Bohinj and the cable car, pretty lakes just over the Italian border, and the mountain pass. If you all cycle, there are lots of family friendly cycle routes that go alongside the road but separated by say 20 metres of trees.
