Where to go in Portugal

Me and 2 dds (18 and 20) would like to go to Portugal for a week in late June. We are flying to Porto and having a couple of days there then would like somewhere with a pool, in a town so walking distance to restaurants. I don’t know where to start! Does anyone have any recommendations?

Braga is really nice, the Bom Jesus do Monte church (outside of town) is the highlight, but the town itself is lovely and has the best ice cream. We stayed overnight but lots day trip from Porto Guimaraes is another popular destination from Porto which has a castle, not yet been myself. We stayed in Espinho when we went to Porto, so out on the coast, which has lovely restaurants and a nice place to chill on the beach. The waves are big though, though they have man made wave breaks that provide some respite from the waves, and the sea is chilly.

How about a villa near Porto itself? Plenty to see & do in the town, some great restaurants

Cascais on the coast is lovely and a short hop to Lisbon.

Ooh, Tavira is a good one, went there years back. We have been to Sintra fairly recently.

I would second Cascais if you want to venture that far from Porto. I can recommend some places to eat that won't cost you a fortune too.

Sintra also nice, but expensive.

I would look at Nazare, Obidos, or if you don't mind being away from the beach, Tomar is also nice and relatively good value as it isn't a particular tourist destination.

We have family in carvoiero which is a really lovely small resort. Plenty of nice restaurants, bars and shops and live music most nights on the beach. Bit its very relaxed and not a mad night out sort of vibe.

Son and girlfriend went to Porto, they loved it and will go back to the area.

Other two ds went to peniche, nazare, Baleal area because they are surfers. Obidos is lovely.

Hard to go wrong on the silver coast.
