Permission to take out of school??

Hello
My child lives with me and visits his Dad.
I know I am able to take my son abroad for up to 28 days without his Dads consent but am I able to take my son off school for a day without his consent?
I am looking at booking a holiday for next year and works out considerably cheaper if we go the last day of term but I know his father wouldn't approve to be awkward. Am I able to do this?

Yes you are. You don’t need to other parent’s permission to keep your kid off school for one day, unless he’s the resident parent/main contact of the school?

Ok thank you. No I am the parent he lives with and I was told I don't need permission to take him on holiday just wasn't sure if I did for taking him in school time.

The only issue would be if you get a fine, as it’s x amount per parent. While extremely unlikely to get a fine for one missed day, as long as you pay it and don’t involve him, it’s no issue.

The school won’t ring him to ask for his permission.
