How many days do we need in HK for exploring and shopping on a stop over to Australia in August?

It's a small place - a couple of days will be enough

I’ve been before and did 3 nights - going again late July on way to Australia but have child in tow now and he wants to do Disney so we are doing 2 nights city and 2 nights Disney. Will be plenty.

Thank you. We are now considering stopping over in South Korea for a week instead and make it a proper holiday. Sounds like there is not much to do in HK.

I would be grateful for advice re SK.

Spent two weeks in Hong Kong in May/June this year and it wasn’t our first visit! There is so much to do - city life, countryside and beaches. A couple of days only scratches the surface of the place.

I did 5 days. We did India, HK and Bali as a single trip. Fab holiday. HK was my favourite place and the views from Victoria Peak at night were spectacular and etched in my memory 30 years on.

We did 10 days in HK, and it was nowhere near enough. There is so much to see and do, its such a magical and fascinating place. I'd go back tomorrow if I could

Ahh so many places to visit. We are now thinking South Korea instead. All depends of flights.

I wouldn’t mind to take more time off to travel more but work and school commitments don’t allow it. Ideally one week in HK on the way there and one week in SK on the way back plus 2 in Sydney. We have been in Australia various times and mainly going to see family. Just dreaming for the moment I think we just do one. Think the girls may prefer SK.

Lived in Hong Kong for a year and I’d struggle to experience it in just a couple of days
If you go out to the islands ( recommend Lantau and Cheung chau ) , don’t miss the golden Buddha, boat tours around the island ( they used to have ones with the old boats ), the geopark ( if you’re into geography and amazing land formations ) and check out the night markets etc I think 5 days might be OK

ps. Don’t miss the views from the peak

As long as you can in Hong Kong, a week would be great! There is so so so much to do

I lived there for almost 10 years so yes I have been there!
