just thinking about booking ahead for one of those once in a lifetime holidays to south africa - will involve some city/beach time plus possible trip to game reserve.

any tips on taking what will be 11/12 month old to south africa - particularly on vaccinations/health tips? Also how do you get them to settle when travelling. Am particularly concerned re vaccine advice as don't want to put lo at risk.

I would seriously reconsider the whole game thing - your child is just too young to be able to appreciate it..

Game drives are usually early in the morning or late at night - usually bedtime or feeding time for little ones...

You also have the risk of malaria, it is bloody hot in that neck of the woods in summer (really unpleasantly so) and there is nowhere safe for babies to toddle about in the camps..

My ILs have older children (between ages of 5 - 11) and they have only started to appreciate the game..
