Hi lovely MNers
I’m hoping you can help. A friend and I are planning a short trip (4-5 nights) to Kos this June 2026 (in the first 2 weeks) and would love it if you have any good recommendations for accommodation please.
We are both 55 and female, and ideally not looking to spend more than £400/night for a shared room (so £200 per person per night). Is that realistic? Ideally it would be a twin room but it seems that if we want to be adult only, or at least avoid lots of families screaming kids, we might end up having to share a double bed. Not the end of the world but we would pay more for 2 beds as we’re both middle-aged restless sleepers and would like to actually get some sleep if possible. It seems all the boutique hotels are set up for couples and romance. Do friends not stay in nice-ish hotels in Kos?!! We’ve been friends for 30 years but this is the first time we’ve faced this issue on a trip away.
Very open to suggestions. It will be our first time on Kos, and my first time in Greece. We’ll either be coming over from Bodrum, Turkey on the ferry into Kos Town or flying into Kos from London and then leaving by ferry to Bodrum. (We have another stay planned in Turkey, either before or after Kos, but dates are flexible as we’re staying with family in their owned apartment)
Given our ages, we’re past our days of partying and are just looking to relax and eat good food and drink wine/cocktails. A gym would be preferred (or my friend will go out running) and a spa nearby would be a dream come true.
Not looking for anywhere where there are battles over sunbeds or queues for anything. I’m a big baby with zero patience and I pretty much combust on the spot at the sign of a queue. I think the word for that is Londoner. 😛
Basically we want something like all the lovely places with great sea views and restaurants and quiet spots that are targeted at romantic couples. Minus the romance. We’re not looking for cheap and cheerful but equally somewhere like Ikos is a bit over budget. There must be a middle ground surely?
I’m going over TripAdvisor reviews but there’s nowhere that really stands out that meets our requirements. Which is making me wonder if Kos just isn’t suitable for us? (We only chose Kos because it’s so easy to get to/from via Bodrum near my family’s apartment).
