Im planning a holiday for end of april/May. I want to go somewhere in Europe/Meditarrenian thats already sunny and warm. Ive been to Crete/Hania in the beginning of April before and that was a bit too chilly and the beach was closed. Any ideas?

I don't think you're going to find anything in Europe that's guaranteed to be sunny and warm (you'll get sunshine but probably not the level of warmth you're after if you found those places too chilly). North Africa and the Middle East will have it.

Tenerife would be nice at that time of year. We go in March every year and it’s certainly warm enough to sunbathe/be in a heated pool. Not sure about the sea though.

We went to Madeira last April it was lovely, not hot but warm enough to wear shorts and t shirt. Also interesting and very green.

Needs to be further south, Canaries are warm in April though not boiling.

I’m going to Marrakesh for sunshine that time of year. Med really isn’t reliable.

TwistedWonder · 14/12/2025 13:38

Canaries is your best bet. It’s too early for a beach holiday in the med until mid May at the earliest

We went to North Cyprus a few years ago, and it was warm then.

I was wondering about cyprus. Maybe i should aim for mid-May then for warmth. I am not too keen on the canaries because of the social/housing problems tourism causes there.

If you can do the second half of May then you’ll have more options and most of the Mediterranean will be warm and sunny then, obviously not as hot as July/august and the sea won’t be too warm yet.

We have booked Cyprus for mid-April and don't expect pool weather, we plan sightseeing and being outside.

For April I would go Caribbean.

This year in late May we went to costa de la Luz (far south) in Spain. Temperature was glorious in mornings and late afternoon /evenings.

it was hot early afternoons, too hot to sit in the sun (for me anyway!). It did get into the thirties but only for a couple of hours a day

didn’t see a cloud all week

although the weather was wonderful however, the pools were on the chilly side

No1HolidayPlanner · 14/12/2025 17:28

We were in Paphos Cyprus mid May a few years ago.. mid twenties.. sunny and definitely beach weather 🙂

BlueberryOats · 14/12/2025 17:29

I went to Crete on 24th May and it was perfect. Wouldn't go earlier.

VWT7 · 14/12/2025 17:31

Southern Turkiye - Antalya region.
Canaries

Lordofmyflies · 14/12/2025 17:39

Morocco
Canaries
Possibly Turkey

MiddleAgedDread · 14/12/2025 17:42

I went to Madeira in early April and it was mixed - some days hot enough to sit by the pool, one day was windy and we had some rain but it was nice weather for sightseeing and another couple of weeks could make a big difference.

myeyeshurttoomuch · 14/12/2025 17:49

Last 2 weeeks of May for Cyprus but make sure you have a heated pool (hotel/ villa) as the water is freezing.

sundayvibeswig22 · 14/12/2025 17:59

Been to Gran Canaria and morroco in early Easter and both very hot, though chilly at night as sunset 7ish

We went on a Western Mediterranean cruise mid May this year. Everywhere was pleasantly warm without being overwhelming.

GreenLemonade · 15/12/2025 11:28

I've been to Cyprus in early May and Algarve in late May. Both has lovely weather, warm and sunny during the day but a bit chilly in the evenings. Warm enough to sit on the beach, although water was freezing.

April of 2023, we went to southern Spain and Balearics and it was fantastic. You could also consider North African countries, since it is still very much a Mediterranean destination, and it can get warmer than the southern Europe. Otherwise, southern Portugal (but it's not the Mediterranean anymore) is a very nice choice. Malta is not that bad either, but I have only been there fully off-season (December), so idk how it looks like during spring. As for Greece, if Crete was still cold, probably you won't get what you're looking for. Some inspo that you can get from here here here here and here .
