Broadhembury (junction 28 M5 - about two miles off the motorway) is a gorgeous village with a great pub (the Drewe Arms) with good garden, often a dog, and with horses over the fence. Playground and stream (good for paddling) at the other end of the village - literally 50m from the pub. We always stop here.

Sanders garden world - we used this last year on way from stoke on trent to cornwall! Was recommended to us by mumsnetters and was perfect as its just off junction 22 of M5 in Brent knoll somerset. We had a nice lunch in their restaurant, and the play area is fab!(and free!) Enclosed with huge pirate ship and swings etc. Also nice little range of kids toys if you want to treat them.
This was perfect for us as it worked out half way on our journey. We used it on way back too. They have a website www.sandersgardenworld.co.uk, have a look!
